The Chinese audio industry started from the production of tape recorders in 1979. At that time, it was not only small in scale (the annual output was only 105,000 units), but its variety was single, and it could not compete with foreign products in terms of technology and quality. Since the 1990s, the information industry has developed rapidly, multimedia technology and audio equipment have been continuously updated, and the application fields of audio have been continuously expanded. Especially with the improvement of people's living and consumption levels, computers and the Internet have become popular, and the audio market space has increased. The demand is kept at a high level.
After 30 years of rapid development, China's audio industry has made great progress. At present, China has developed into a major producer and exporter of audio equipment in the world. According to the statistics of the China Electronic Audio Industry Association, since 1999, the output value of China's major electronic audio products has grown at an average rate of more than 30% per year. By 2006, the output value had reached RMB 206.9 billion. However, due to the combination of increased labor costs, rising raw material prices, and fluctuations in the RMB exchange rate, the growth rate of China's major electronic audio products began to slow down in 2006. Before 2014, the industry was generally in a low-speed adjustment period. In 2014, due to the recovery of the international market and the rapid growth of Chinese residents' income and online retail sales, the domestic and international markets have achieved good development and the industry recovery trend is obvious. In 2014, the total output value of China's major electronic audio products was approximately 277.4 billion yuan, an increase of 15.54% over 2013.
The market situation of the global electronic audio industry directly affects the export of the Chinese electronic audio industry. Affected by the slow growth of the global electronic audio industry, China's electronic audio exports experienced negative growth during the period from 2007 to 2009. Later, as the international electronic audio market stabilized and rebounded, China's electronic audio export volume resumed growth. In 2014, the total export volume of China's major electronic audio products was US$29.84 billion.
